Art History Seminar

History of Beauty - Introductory seminar on the history of Fine Arts

Seminar open to members of the public
The course aims to investigate the persistence of beauty in painting and sculpture from antiquity to the contemporary. The individual lessons provide the student with a sort of iconographic atlas of images that – through analogy, concordance, even dissonance – can make the history of art understandable, linking the styles that have developed in the name of form and its perfection over the centuries. Above all, the analogical method allows us to attempt unusual comparisons between the artists and the works produced over the centuries.

Who is it intended for?

The Art History seminar is also open to those who are not enrolled in the Three-year Academic Course. In fact, among the intentions of the Milano Painting Academy founders, an aspect of great importance is the cultural growth of all those who want to exclusively attend the teaching moments designed for theoretical education.

Seminar of Aesthetics of Art

Aesthetics: themes and problems – Aesthetics introductory seminar

Seminar open to members of the public

The course aims to investigate the origins of Aesthetics, as a philosophical discipline, and its categories. The vagueness of the terms “beautiful” or “ugly”, the ever-renewing role of aesthetic categories such as the sublime, the graceful, the kitsch, the impossibility of giving a single definition to the term art, the complex idea of “creativity” and role of the artist, the great themes of aesthetic pleasure and the judgment of taste will be at the centre of the lessons, from an introductory and interlocutory point of view.

Anatomy seminar

Seminar open to members of the public
Lecture series
Representative methodology and structural analysis of form. The seminar is based on the methodology of drawing, intended as a fundamental tool for research, study and reflection on the perception and representation of natural form. The course aims to solicit a new grammar of “vision” and representation of the body. The order of proportions gives the human figure the necessary relationships through which it shapes the space of its relations, not as a collection of parts, but as a harmonic whole in which height, width and depth constitute a living and vital solid, which consists of an internal volume and an external morphology in relation to the pictorial surface. The reading of the human figure takes place through three-dimensional structures that constitute a method of knowledge and information. The three dimensions are not only the site of what could be defined human architecture, but also constitute its material, with characteristics of balance and volume, of sign and colour.
