Milano Painting Academy is conceived by Silvia Basta, who is also the head of the school. Silvia Basta is already committed to promote Fondazione Maimeri, a non profit foundation that since twenty years pursues its mission of organising, promoting and communicating cultural and artistic events, paying also attention to the social impact of its activities.
The initial reasons behind the constitution of Fondazione MAIMERI were the promotion of the work of Milanese painter Gianni Maimeri (1884-1951), the founder of the fine arts company of the same name. Subsequently, the foundation has diverted its energies to the organisation of exhibitions, performances, moments of dialogue and conversation, dissemination of the arts and in-depth study.
Silvia Basta has played a fundamental role within the foundation, consolidating the relationships with some of the most prestigious institutions, universities, research centres, companies and museums, as well financing and favouring projects in the third sector. Specifically, Fondazione MAIMERI has collaborated with hospitals and care facilities, in detention centres and in regenerated urban areas.
