Alex Folla

He was born in Oggiono, Italy in 1980. After graduating with honours from the Accademia di Belle Arti of Brera, he specialised in painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Carrara.
His artistic research immediately directed him towards the naturalistic rendering of the human figure and in particular he studied and practised the pictorial language called “pittura a risparmio,” saving paint, used by the Italian Masters of the XVII century.
In 2005 Folla began an intense exhibition activity both in Italy and abroad.
In 2015 he held an exhibition and workshop on the theme of Italian seventeenth-century painting in Russia, at the Triumph Gallery in Moscow, and then in the USA, at Fontbonne University in St. Louis Missouri. At the same University he held a course on Caravaggio painting.
In 2016, Folla exhibited and organised a workshop on the theme of Renaissance painting, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles, supported by the Getty Museum.
Since then, he has continued his academic and artistic activities in Italy and abroad, producing numerous works on commission, most recently “Gigantomachia”, a mural of over 200 square metres at Galleria Vik in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan.
