Milano Painting Academy organises and hosts the painting workshop Road to Caravaggio,<\/strong> taught by artists Alex Folla and Elena Trailina<\/strong>, whose work is inspired by the art of the Renaissance and the Old Masters\u2019 paintings.
During this intensive workshop, participants will realise a copy of a masterpiece by Caravaggio, guided by the artists. Folla and Trailina will show them how to obtain the dramatic tones and the chiaroscuro<\/em> effects<\/strong> that characterise the work of the great Italian Baroque artist. The workshop encompasses the preparation of canvases following traditional methods<\/strong>, with particular attention to the colour used for the background of the work, to finally selecting a specific range of colours to use and achieve the effects of different materials with paint.<\/strong>
Participants will realise one\/two draft canvas\/es<\/strong> to familiarise themselves with the \u201cpittura al risparmio\u201d<\/strong> technique – paint saving technique. During this first exercise, Folla and Trailina will explain how to look at the subject to draw, taking into account the different materials and their way of reflecting light. The teachers will illustrate how to paint the human skin resembling Caravaggio<\/strong>\u2019s outcomes. After having practiced and understood the different light effects and how to paint a human body, participants will devote themselves to painting one of Caravaggio\u2019s artworks on a reduced-scale canvas. With the aid of Trailina and Folla, participants will also study how to realise different materials and textures in their paintings.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tElena Trailina was born in Moscow in 1979. After graduating from Moscow International University with a degree in Management and a leadership course at the University of Western Ontario, she decided to follow her passion for painting by coming to Italy and studying at the Brera and Carrara academies. She participated in a bi-personal exhibition at the Italian Cultural Center in Los Angeles with Getty Museum, and she had exhibited at BBAX Gallery. Her works featured in the 54th Biennale di Venezia. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAlex Folla was born in Oggiono, Italy, in 1980. He received an academic honors degree from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. His artistic studies immediately directed him towards the naturalistic depiction of the human figure, and in particular he was attracted by the pictorial language used by the Italian masters of the seventeenth century. Since 2014, he has been regularly exhibiting at the Triumph Gallery in Moscow and in Milano, at the Union Gallery. He took part in the LuccaArtFair in 2018, had a solo show, for the project Underground Naples. In 2019, he has started to paint a Gigantomachia theme, for the luxurious Vik Hotel in Milano.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
