Nicola Verlato
Artistic Director of Milano Painting Academy and professor of Drawing and Painting
Nicola Verlato (Verona, 1965) is a painter, sculptor, architect, musician, and videomaker. He is currently the Artistic Director of the Milano Painting Academy.
He began studying painting at the age of 9 in a monk’s studio inside a monastery. After a period dedicated to private commissions, he started an intense exhibition activity that brought him to important contemporary art galleries and museums internationally.
Throughout his career, he has participated in the 53rd Venice Biennale (Italian Pavilion, 2009), the Prague and Tirana Biennials (2001, 2003, 2004), and the Rome Quadriennale (1996, 2008). He has also exhibited at the Palazzo Reale in Milan, the PAC, the MART in Rovereto, the National Museum of Stockholm, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Helsinki, Toronto’s Nuit Blanche, the Akron Museum, White Columns in New York, the National Roman Museum – Baths of Diocletian, and the Museum of Palazzo Lanfranchi in Matera.
Verlato is currently represented by Postmasters Gallery (New York – Rome), Poulsen Gallery (Copenhagen), Isabel Croxatto Gallery (Santiago, Chile), and Galleria Giovanni Bonelli (Milan).
His works are part of public and private collections, including those of the MART in Rovereto, the George Lucas Museum in Los Angeles, and the MUSAC in Salamanca.
In recent years, he has explored new digital technologies, creating works in NFT format. He has also taught at the New York Academy of Art (NYAA), where he further developed the integration of traditional painting and CGI technology.
